Juliana Forbes: CEO of La Juliette Youth Organisation. I envision using my project to help the younger generation and allow them to explore their talents and much more. It was always my dream to help young people; I did not have the easiest life, which is part of why I would like to make life easier for others. I know what it is like to struggle. I know what it is like to have talent, but have nobody to show it to – or anybody to help you progress.
I know what it is like to be a young person with dreams and watch them fade away. I do not want this to be the case for the younger generations. I want to be that difference. La Juliette plans to help young people with their dreams and aspirations. The topic of talent is not the only area of concern for La Juliette Youth Organisation. Education is also a focus.
As a young girl growing up in the Caribbean, it was sad to see the number of children who did not have equal opportunities to pursue their education. Many did not even make it past the 6th grade (also known as ‘year 6’). Unfortunately, I was one of those people, which hindered me a lot in life. It led to me having to struggle growing up. Thankfully, I made my way to the UK, where I was able to benefit from the great opportunities the UK had to offer.
I was able to accomplish things in the UK, that I would not have been able to accomplish as a young girl/woman growing up in the Caribbean (at that time). I was able to achieve an event coordination qualification and accomplished much more. We at La Juliette Youth Organisation would like to be that change. We aim to aid young people who are less fortunate and allow them to have equal opportunities in the education sector.
There are places in the world where students have to purchase books and other school equipment and not having these things puts them at a disadvantage. In my home country, St. Lucia, this was no different. We had to purchase our books, unlike the schools in the UK, which provide textbooks, notebooks etc. to the students.
I saw how great of an impact it can have on a student’s abilities, confidence and more, not having the right equipment for school; it can even affect their desire to want to go to school. This is from personal experience. This is why I feel like it is my duty to make sure that those in less developed countries are able to go to school equipped with the necessary tools, and not feel less than others. We do not want an absence of school books, school shoes or anything to be the reason a child is not educated and is not able to be a doctor, lawyer, inventor or whatever they desire to be.
I devote my heart to young people. I was a dance teacher for 11 years and worked with young people. This helped to fuel my passion for the art of dancing and working with young people. Having a wonderful grandmother to teach me how to love others – and particularly young people, made me the woman I am today.
Many young people in the UK are missing this love. This is why community activities are so important. They give young people a chance to bond, instead of hating and fighting each other. La Juliette Youth Organisation wants to provide dance classes, drama classes and more; the goal is to get young people together and work with each other as they explore their talents and get them off of the streets. We aim to give young people an outlet where they can be free to let go, relax and enjoy themselves.
This is the mission of La Juliette Youth Organisation. To be a difference in the lives of young people around the world – in a positive way. This is my personal mission as the CEO, but all of the other members can attest to this. We all want to change the lives of young people in a positive way, and we welcome the assistance of anybody who is willing to be on board, and who also shares this goal. La Juliette will use profits from events and other ventures to fund its charity – La Juliette Youth Organisation and will continue to work with partners from around the world – including America and Nigeria, to see these visions through.

Staff Volunteer
Hi my name is Shane. I'm a videographer/photographer and I was extremely interested in joining this project when seeing Julianna’s passion for building this, because I'm someone who also has a need to help others.
When I saw how much love she was putting into this I knew we could reach many people. I am a writer of music so for a talent show to be put together I immediately was looking forward to seeing what level of talent we could bring out of the people involved
